I met Rachel at an event in Denver, and knew she’d be an awesome addition to 360|intersect. She’s our latest speaker highlight!
1. What was your first thought on hearing what 360|intersect was about?
I have always tried to incorporate creativity into my every day life. My career in the field of workplace misconduct is not immediately associated with creativity. However, once I thought about the relationship between the two, I have had a lot of new insight into what makes me a great investigator. I’m really excited to describe how these two sides intersect.
2. There’s a lot of conferences and events out there, what made you want to be a part of 360|intersect?
My artistic pursuits have always been a part of my life, although I decided not to go to art school. For most of my career I have work-life and art I do at home as a pastime. When a chalkboard was installed at work, it was obvious that I was the best person to adorn it. Initially it was a welcome sign related to events or clients. However, I was afforded a lot of freedom as to what and how this was done. I have never been much of a chalk artist, but the more I drew on that board, the more I began to enjoy it. I often stayed late to work on a design, sometimes out of pride, and sometimes as a release valve. I believe there is a way for everyone to incorporate aspects of creativity in most of the areas of life. I’m excited to describe my journey, in hopes of unlocking that for others.
3. What speaker, other than you, are you most excited to see present/meet?
I have two that really piqued my interest. I am passionate about cyber bullying and the importance of strong relationships of girls and women. My background is steeped in mental health, which is terrifically ignored in most areas of life. Secondarily, as an artist, I have spent the last 18 months trying to figure out what it means to be an artist. I’m interested to see where this discussion goes.
4. What do you hope to take away from 360|intersect?
I am excited to learn about how others are creative and what it means to them. I want to connect with a fantastic group of people who value creative expression.
